Moroccan rugs with strong, geometric patterns and vibrant colors are referred to as “boujads”. They are traditionally woven by Berber women from the Boujad district in the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
Boujad rugs are well known for their durability and superb craftsmanship. The wool is often hand-spun and hand-dyed, and the rugs are woven using a double-knot process that results in a dense and tightly woven fabric. Boujad carpets are therefore extremely resilient to deterioration and have a long lifespan.
