Morocco’s “boujad rug” design is characterized by strong, geometric patterns and vibrant colors. These are traditionally woven by Berber women from the Boujad region in the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
Boujad carpets are well known for their superb workmanship and durability. The wool is often hand-spun, hand-colored, and double-knotted to create a dense, tightly-woven fabric for the rugs. Boujad carpets are extremely resistant to deterioration, which contributes to their extended lifespan.
